Care Guide

Thank you for purchasing one of our NOVUS Amsterdam pieces. We hope you are happy with your new favorites!

NOVUS Amsterdam jewelry are made of stainless steel with a premium gold plated finish. Although all our pieces are water- and sweat resistant, it is essential to maintain their beauty and longevity. Here's a care guide to help you keep your men's jewelry looking its best:

1. Keep it clean

  • Gently wipe your jewelry with a soft, lint-free cloth after each wear to remove sweat, oils, and dirt.
  • For more thorough cleaning, use warm, soapy water and a soft brush or cloth to clean the jewelry's surface. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals as they can damage the plating.

2. Avoid contact with chemicals

  • Remove your jewelry before swimming in pools or hot tubs, as chlorine can tarnish the gold plating.
  • Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays, as these may contain chemicals that can dull the finish or cause discoloration.

3. Store properly:

  • When you're not wearing your jewelry, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Consider using a jewelry box or pouch to prevent scratching and tangling.
  • To prevent tangling, hang necklaces individually or lay them flat.

4. Be gentle with your jewelry

  • Avoid tugging or pulling on your necklaces and bracelets, as this can weaken the chains or clasps.
  • Remove your jewelry before engaging in activities that could potentially damage it, such as sports, heavy lifting, or manual labor.

5. Remove before bedtime

  • Taking off your jewelry before going to bed prevents it from getting tangled in your sleep or coming into contact with sweat and oils produced during the night.

6. Regular inspections

  • Periodically inspect your jewelry for signs of wear or damage. Look for loose links, broken clasps, or areas where the gold plating may be wearing thin.

7. Professional cleaning and maintenance

  • If your jewelry needs more than a simple cleaning, consider taking it to a professional jeweler for restoration or repair.
  • Professional jewelers can also replate the gold finish if it becomes noticeably worn over time.

8. Rotate your jewelry

  • If you have multiple pieces of jewelry, rotate them to prevent excessive wear on any single item.

Remember that while stainless steel with 18k gold plating is more durable than some other materials, it is not entirely immune to wear and tear. Proper care and maintenance will help extend the life of your men's jewelry and keep it looking as good as new for years to come.

Enjoy your new favorites of NOVUS Amsterdam.
